aste2, your strategy sounds possible, but the only thing I find is that as soon as you hit buy or sell, you are usually £2 or £3 down which is the difference betwen the real price and spread company's margin. So you need to get through this before you start to hit profit. In my experience, the price usually moves back the other way before it goes into profit.

Just did another live OCO trade on the FOMC meeting minutes in the US at 7pm. The price went right down to my bottom order point, activated the sell and then moved back up again - £7 lost. Unbelievable how many times that happens to me.

I am about to watch apprentice so cant reply. You dont sound like you are using demo trading. I suppose that is your problem. You havent practised what you want to do on there. I am doing something entirely different to you. And my spreads if you read my posts are not more than one.

If anyone is still following my posts these are my present conclusions.
I have tried out almost all the platforms
Of the similar one which work with pop ups like inter-trader capital tradefair accend, I find financial the only one where one can buy and sell quickly and at the same time see whats important on the screen using two screens. Its better to have more since one tends to freeze.
City index is also quite good but they only allow 2500 where everyone else is 10000. One cant work with such a small amount of margin. I have asked for more and await their reply. The screen though is quite small and doesnt seem to be able to be enlarged for doing many trades. They also take a long time but maybe that is because I use a mobile.
Dealbook I find to be the best and they have only one point spread on the Dow.
They increased my margin from 1000 to 10000. I have no idea why on a demo account they are so scared to offer more.
CMC and Saturn do have tighter spreads than others but their black platforms are terrible.
