Hi
another bad day to report I'm afraid, with my portfolio down another £80 or so, largely thanks to commodities struggling again. I will just have to be of firm resolve, grit my teeth and think of England (at least until things improve!). Well I've been saying for ages my luck can't last forever........
It's a blip and in a few weeks times (or less) the upwards momentum will hopefully continue - might as well be optimistic as not!!
Anyway my portfolio took a battering today with just a few exceptions. I had a 2 x contract stop out which resulted in a loss of some £30 or so; this was my 2 remaining contracts with ARIAN SILVER CORPORATION. One contract executed automatically: PETRA DIAMONDS LTD giving me 7 positions in this excellent share.
As I mentioned yesterday I'm having a bit of a rest and don't expect to open any more new positions for a while. I think this is a very good idea; I need to 'chill' for a while..!
So there we are - 3 bad days in a row. All being well there should be a slight improvement on Monday but I'm not holding my breath! See you then, cheers Big Al

Had a few stop outs of my own yesterday, mind you these were the first in a while so I cant really complain. My account value took a bit of a battering aswell, not nice to see it go down but I guess thats the price of leveraging! Let the good times roll next week (please!).

I seem to have bucked the trend as my Trading Trail 2010 (now Trading Trail 2010-2011) demo portfolio went up by 3.5% this week. Tony Loton, Position Trader

Nice one Tony! The post I made earlier I was referring to my IG index account. I havent checked on my Worldspreads account in which I run your position trading strategy - I like to look at that on a Sunday...

Hi Tony
pleased to see your 2010-11 portfolio seems to be turning a corner and is moving up again - sometimes slower is better. I had an amazing December and gained almost a £1000 on my initial investment of £800, and then suddenly I'm down almost £300 in 3 days!! It's very sobering and makes you realise just how precarious these paper profits can be...
It's a timely reminder that patience is everything, and also that in order to achieve those big highs we have to endure some painful days. As you have said on many occasions it's all about staying in for the long haul! Here's to a really good year ahead - despite the bumps!
Cheers, Big Al
